To anybody that want's to hear my story? My name is Mark, and I am an Alcoholic. This sounds like an AA meeting already. I am 60 years old. I remember when JFK died. I remember when Martin died. I remember when Bobby died. And I remember when my mom died. But the most important date for me in my life, is the day that I stopped drinking! I started drinking beer in High School. Started smoking Pot and snorting Cocaine in college, I snorted Cocaine till I was 30 years old. It was the 80"s , and Cocaine was not addictive then? Remember people saying that? I lived in a great 2bdrm Duplex Loft in Greenwich Village.I got married had two beautiful daughters, and eventually moved to a house in Armonk, NY. In 2006 my wife threw me out of the house, with a restraining order on my 48th Birthday. I violated the Restraining Order the next day,and a detective in the Armonk Police Department who was a friend, asked me to turn myself in for the violation, I drove to the Police Station that same day DRUNK! Talk about "good people making bad decisions"! Spent a few days in jail, got a DUI, and Court Ordered Rehab. That was the day I decided I had to STOP DRINKING! Well 10 years later in 2016 I finally stopped drinking. I checked myself in to Ocean Breeze Rehabilitation in Florida. This time not court ordered. It was my second time in Rehab. I connected with a great counselor David Greer. and he and others there saved my life, and brought me back to sanity. Clean and Sober now over 2 1/2 years. And there is a difference between being clean and being sober. So I am only really sober for One year. Clean for 1 1/2 years. I hope that this message will be of value to at least one person who might think they are an alcoholic. God's Speed To All. Mark Slap
Ocean breeze recovery saved my life. When I was there the facility as well as living spaces were excellent. Great staff!! Pete and Kim really cared about the patients.
People get clean in jail cells, psych wards or on a couch kicking cold turkey. If you're lucky enough to be in a luxurious rehab like this located right by the beach to fight your addiction, be grateful. Only a small percentage of addicts and alcoholics get the opportunity to go to a place like this. For everyone posting anything below 3 stars and complaining about not getting things your way, while you're staying at a private facility employed with a highly trained staff that includes a doctor, nurses, therapists, a nutriotionist and an extremely caring and highly underpaid BHT team, that's your problem, trying to do things your way and wanting what you want, when you want, how you want it. Has that type of thinking and behavior worked out so far in your life? Just some advice for anyone who ever comes across this, sit back and listen to what your counselor is telling you. Go ask one of the BHTs (Behavior Health Technician) in recovery how they got clean. Then you'll have a chance at not being another sad statistic. Cheers
I went for theraputic purposes, and I was not disappointed. I've never had positive experiences with therapy until this place. I learned tools for my foundation I've needed for a long time. And I can't say enough about EMDR. I am extremely grateful. Thanks for going the extra mile for me you guys! God bless you 😇
This isn't only a great place to get sober, it's a great place to be sober. They helped me learn to be accountable and to handle life when it throws s**t at me. All the staff is great but special shout out to Dave Greer and Chris Penn. OBR saved my life. Kimberly Cohen Sober date 7-1-16
My son was in treatment at Ocean Breeze Recovery for over 100 days. Although our insurance did not cover the last 4 weeks of treatment I’m glad he has shown great progress so far. His therapist along with my son called us each week for an update on his treatment program. I would recommend it highly.
This place helped me get my life back. I was facing drug charges, eviction, and the threat of losing my job. I was able to get everything back. I was impressed with the facility and with the staff. They gave me the tools to stay clean and sober. I have a little over six months clean and sober and I’m not looking back. Thank you ocean breeze!
Great facility, professional staff. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for help on their road to recovery!
First,I like to thank the staff at Arete and am truly grateful to them for teaching me to communicate.Without opening up I would had never found out who I truly am today.Being there during the hurricane made me stronger and the staff did the best they could under the circumstances.People were freaking out with no cigarettes and they made sure everyone had e-cigs until they could get everyone smokes.Nobody, wants to be away from there family and kids but we all went there for one reason and that was to learn how to live sober and starting with Arete they started the journey for me personally. Now,as for OBR,I will be honest I wanted out the first few days but that was because It was a transition for me but once I settled in it was good.I see people writing there scammers and all this other stuff, hey bottom line is business is business and nothing perfect in life but it is how you turn some negatives into positives.OBR taught me that and a lot more positive about my life today then I was before I went to OBR.Over all the staff was great and I miss both at Arete and OBR.I would change some things at OBR but if you like to discuss it give me buzz.Im not saying it was all peaches and cream but I would recommend anyone family or friends to go to OBR.I am truly grateful and thankful to all.Im hoping to come speak at Arete and OBR at the end of the year if guys welcome me. Hope to see you soon clean and serene. Thank You
Ocean breeze Recovery has lovely facility being that it was my first time in a rehabilitation facility and I have see worse places in my line of work. This place offered me a space where I could learn and grow as an individual in the time that I spent there away from my family. They taught me the essential skills needed to become an effective member of society without needing alcohol (My DOC). Through counseling, classes, and small groups they gave me the tools I needed to stay sober that I had never received before. The staff was knowledgeable, kind, and always there to provide support when needed. From my intake experience, to my drive to the airport to return home; I felt validated and heard. Ocean Breeze Recovery taught me how to love myself, gave me my voice back, and taught me how to trust again and not be afraid of people. They gave me the things I had lacked in my life so that I could stay sober. They taught me that sobriety was a lifestyle change and that I had to make the decision, want the change and make the change . The support even goes beyond the OBR walls, all I do is pick up the phone text, call email and they still listen and help even to this day. In just went to an alumni gathering for OBR and it was nice to see fellow clients and that they are doing well. Best of all to see Katie coz she rock. I will eternally be grateful for the establishment they gave me hope, my life back and my family back because I put in the work they asked of me thank you.
I came through OBR about 3 years ago, spending the holidays of late 2014-2015 in this treatment center. I went for 28 days, and left on the 29th (If memory serves), moving away from my home in New York, going through this treatment and afterward to a sober living in Los Angeles. I was determined to get help for my opiate addiction and found the right place to do it. I made sure to take notes in groups, ask questions, utilize the staff, and do as many seemingly menial writing assignments as they could muster to put in their binder. This treatment played what I believe now to be an indispensable role in my transition to a new sober life. I was comfortable and well accommodated during my stay at Ocean Breeze Recovery. This is the best treatment center that I have ever attended as a client. I am now coming up on 3 years of continuous sobriety in the program of AA and it all started here. Now I must be frank in saying that there was no outside force could make the drastic inner change that I needed so desperately to get/stay sober. I made the change on the inside before going into treatment - the thing is that although I made the change before treatment, I did not know how to protect that seed of life and give it room to grow. This place was a safe house , provided a soft landing, and was what I believe to be the right spot for me to begin. Have a great journey, keep an open mind.
Ocean breeze was one of the better places I've been. As far as staff, treatment and facility. Good initial program, great aftercare program.
Ocean Breeze saved my life, the staff was very friendly and understanding. The alumni group is a great format with awesome support for after initial treatment!
They were incredible. A personal approach rather than just medicating her out of her mind. They are the reason my sister is finally better
my experience at ocean breeze recovery has been great. they offer great support and amazing staff. the amenities they have here allow u to also have fun. they provided me with all the proper tools to continue in my recovery and to be successful. over all an awesome experience, number one in my book.
Ocean Breeze Recovery is one of the best treatment centers around. The staff is phenomenal and mostly in recovery, so there's support 24/7. The residence is clean and comfortable, and every group teaches the clients about recovery and how to do it. I have such a better understanding of my addiction and how to treat it. Even after I leave, I know that I will always have the love and support of Ocean Breeze.
My experience at Ocean Breeze not only saved my life but gave me a life. I came to Ocean Breeze after going to over 25 inpatient treatment centers and was completely hopeless at giving recovery another chance. The thing that I found here that was different than any other facility I had been to in the past was that the staff actually cared for me and and loved me until I was able to love myself. I was able to gain the hope and faith I needed here to build a foundation for my recovery and finally complete a treatment program with a sense of self awareness and the desire to stay sober. Thank you to the staff and loving owners of Ocean Breeze I have been sober since May 27,2012.
I was able to learn a lot from Ocean Breeze and for a rehab facility, it is extremely above the average. There are many offered activities to encourage growth during recovery and the clients are great and easy to get along with. There was, however, during my stay, a lack in organization and cohesiveness in the staff which caused for confusion and delay at times throughout the day. During the end of my stay this had been worked out for the most part, but for the first segment of my stay there was a lot of waiting around and awaiting details on what to do next. Overall, I had a very positive learning experience at Ocean Breeze, and I consider myself lucky to have been placed in this facility as opposed to another one. The outside meetings were helpful, the staff for the most was very friendly, and many people there went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was as positive and as enjoyable as humanly possible (given the circumstances, of course).
